Case management software

Software to run cases, paperwork, billing and records.

Buyer's guide

Case management software holds your case records, forms, billing and often your price list. For a small home without IT staff, the most important questions are practical: is it web-based so there is no server to look after, can you leave without losing your records, and is the price predictable?

Questions to ask any vendor: Can I export all my case records and documents if I leave? Is there a setup or activation fee? Is there a contract, and how long? Who do I call at night or on a weekend if it stops working? Does it print the price lists and forms required in my state or province?

Of the tools we list, 1Director publishes a starting price ($175/month) and Afterword publishes an entry plan ($79/month on its own site). Halcyon is month-to-month with an activation fee, but its amounts are not published. Osiris Software states no long-term contracts, prices by at-need call volume and offers a 30-day free trial.
